Education Framework for PACE 2018

An Education Framework for PACE 2018 – Njobati Frederick Fondzenyuy, MA. This framework highlights the challenges and expectations of Education Ministries in African nations, and then links these to the PACE materials as a practical response to solve the challenges. The articulation of PACE materials makes visible its content, cross-cutting dimensions, competency-based activities, the pedagogic approach and methodologies. The framework equally presents the competences developed by using PACE materials and the presentation style of PACE materials.  It was developed by Njobati [...]

Rhino School activities for November & December. For the whole third term, we are continuing with topics related to trees. This is a build up to the National Tree planting Day which is held every first Saturday of December. I plan to buy tree seedlings to give to the participating schools. One of the schools already has an orchard and have said that a donation of fruit tree seedlings will be most welcome. Excursions into the Conservancy for local kids, parents [...]

Report on the PACE Rhino Schools Project, Zimbabwe.

Thinking about trees at Sebakwe Education Centre. As soon as schools opened for the third term, I engaged them in an Essay Competition -  topics included 'My life as a Mutohwe tree' and 'My life as a Mutondo tree'. Mutohwe is a very common local indigenous tree whose fruits are a delicacy to the Sebakwe community. Its common name is the Snot Apple tree (African Chewing gum), the Latin Name is Azanza Garckeana. The Mutondo tree, Julbernadia globifora, is another common [...]

PACE in Nyaminyami District schools, Zimbabwe.

The School Inspector for Nyaminyami District, Mr Jason Dzveta, invited our Zimbabwe partners to talk about PACE at his head teachers meeting in Karoi on July 5th. Nyaminyami (also called Kariba) District, is one of the most rural and isolated in Zimbabwe.  It is in Mashonaland West Province in the north of Zimbabwe, includes part of Lake Kariba, a border with Zambia and the Matusadona National Park. We were thrilled that fifty-three of the district’s fifty-nine primary and secondary school heads [...]

Investing in Conservation Farming – Family Farm Schools

Early in June we wrote about the Family Farm Schools in Cameroon and their interest in PACE solutions*.   The Family Farm Schools are located in the grasslands of Cameroon's North West Region.
