PACE Action sheets now available in Portuguese

Selected PACE action sheets are now available in Portuguese. Action sheets share simple solutions that people have used to solve their everyday, environmental problems.   Living with wildlife titles in Portuguese include: Monitoring human wildlife conflict, Reducing crop raiding by elephants, Protecting against primates, Protecting livestock against predators, a Chili growing guide, and Elephant dung paper.  Energy topics include: Reducing kitchen smoke, Fuel savers, Improved stoves, Smoke hoods, Solar cooking, Make your own solar cooker, Make a fire-less hay-box cooker, and Planting [...]

Getting kids onto computers!

  In May last year we wrote about the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) at Lewa Wildlife conservancy in Kenya.  As a PACE hub the DLP created a PACE channel (containing all the PACE content) on the Kolibri software they use, and made this available to schools, 23 in total, that they support in the area around Lewa conservancy.  DLP  helped the schools acquire tablets and smart boards, created school intranets, digitised curriculum material and additional content like PACE and loaded it [...]

Children not only learning, but making a difference, a big difference!

    This is Ntalabany primary school in northern Kenya. Learning outside the classroom – make a simple donation, with big impact.

  We were so pleased to get this donation of gardening equipment to the students at Lokusero primary school in Kenya. Huge thanks to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy's  education team for making the delivery. KIRUSSO, enabling youngsters in Tanzania.

It’s always a joy to receive news of excited young conservationists, learning and doing new things. The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre provide visits, workshops and outreach for schools and communities in the Entebbe area, and from further afield.  We are thrilled that access to PACE resources has enabled them to increase their impact. Richard Otiti, Conservation Educator at UWEC, has been organising seminars to help communities live peacefully alongside their wildlife neighbours. PACE digital – integrating conservation education into classroom teaching.

Lewa Wildlife conservancy in Kenya has a groundbreaking Digital Literacy Programme. By kitting out schools with digital equipment, digitising curriculum material and training teachers on how to use these they have hugely increased the quality of education, and learning outcomes, for kids living in previously marginalised rural conservation areas.
