Conservation is a growing and exciting sector, that provides an extraordinary range of employment and career opportunities – more than most people realise.
The PACE Careers in Conservation module shows the kinds of opportunities that exist.
Five very different organisations, in very different African countries are used to illustrate the great range of jobs and many kinds of people that work in conservation and related employment – from teachers, nurses, mechanics, IT, finance, fundraising, craftswomen, management and business people to drivers, cooks and cleaners.
The stories of eight conservationists are featured. They range from young Mum’s who’d never left their home villages to a career civil servant, vet and woodcarver – the majority are women!
You can read about the backgrounds, roles, employers and achievements of these eight contrasting careers. We hope that their successes will inform and inspire many others to build their own careers in conservation.
